Interview Room Lock - Automatic from the Wall Switch
An officer flips the room switch, the in-room LED comes on, and the Milestone evidence lock is created around the interview window - pre-buffer through post-buffer - without anyone touching a workstation.
Interview Room watches Axis camera input ports for a physical switch wired into the interview room. When the switch is flipped, the service drives the matching Axis output high (a 'recording' indicator LED in the room) and starts the clock. When the switch is released, it creates an XProtect evidence lock spanning the interview window plus configurable pre- and post-buffers. The whole flow happens automatically - no Smart Client interaction required.
The technical surface.
What it does, said plainly.
Physical-switch start/stop
A wired switch in the room starts and ends every interview lock - matches the way officers already think about the workflow.
In-room recording indicator
An Axis output drives a 'recording' LED in the room so the officer can see the system is live, every time.
VAPIX direct, not via Milestone driver
Sub-second switch response by polling the Axis I/O API directly - bypasses the XProtect Axis-driver lag and missed-edge issues that plague event-based approaches.
Management Client hot-reload
Room mapping, ports, buffers, and headline template are configured through Management Client → STRAVIX Plug-ins. Changes apply within ~10 seconds without a service restart.
How it's wired.
- 01Physical switch wired to Axis camera input port
- 02Service polls VAPIX (/axis-cgi/io/port.cgi) at ~4 Hz, two-read debounce
- 03Switch closed → drive Axis output high → in-room LED on
- 04Switch released → drop output → create XProtect evidence lock via ServerCommandService
- 05JSON envelope in the lock description for downstream routing (matches STRAVIX Cloud Uploader convention)
